FAQ - How are Option Symbols Displayed for Options Affected by Corporate Actions?

Question

Under the new symbology, how are options symbols displayed for options affected by corporate actions?

Answer

Under the new symbology, a new number will be added to the Root Symbol field for an option that is affected by a corporate action. Each time the option is affected by a corporate action, a new number is added. For example, a 1 is added for the first corporate action, a 2 for the second. Below is an example of the symbol for the Microsoft option, that has been affected by a corporate action:

MSFT1:20NOV10:C42.5

The 1 next to the symbol MSFT indicates that this option was affected by a corporate action.
