Wolters Kluwer Financial Services Securities Expert Receives Tony Fireman Award from Shareholder Services Association
Stevie Conlon Recognized for Outstanding Contributions on Cost Basis Initiatives

WALTHAM, Mass. – Jul. 29, 2013 – Wolters Kluwer Financial Services today announced that Stevie D. Conlon, senior director and tax counsel, Investment Compliance Solutions, received the Tony Fireman Award from the Shareholder Services Association. Ms. Conlon was recognized by the SSA for her outstanding contributions to the securities industry as a whole, as well as for her extensive work on various industry initiatives on cost basis. She received this award at the organization’s annual conference on July 19th in Stowe, Vt.

“Our executive board unanimously selected Stevie for this honor based on her tireless work on behalf of the shareholders services industry, providing steadfast leadership, guidance and expert counsel,” said Karen Danielson, president of SSA. “Stevie embodies the same spirit and dedication to service as Tony Fireman, as articulated in the four tenants of the award criteria, which are character, integrity, commitment and leadership.”

The Tony Fireman Achievement Award is the highest honor a shareholder services professional can receive. Anthony F. Fireman was a long-time member and former President of the Association. The honor is not granted every year, but rather only when the SSA board determines that a significant contribution to the industry merits special recognition.

Stevie draws from her extensive background in the areas of law and accounting to translate the complicated federal tax laws and regulations impacting the securities industry, investors and corporations. She is a frequent contributor to national business and financial publications on a variety of tax issues, including cost basis reporting law and the tax consequences of corporate actions. Additionally, she testified at Internal Revenue Service public hearings on proposed cost basis reporting regulations as well as previously on other regulations.

The Shareholder Services Association was established in 1946 as a national nonprofit professional association with a core mission to support and educate corporate issuers in effectively meeting their responsibilities for shareholder recordkeeping and service. The SSA aids its member network of issuers, service provider professionals and industry leaders in understanding the rapidly changing regulatory and business environments while helping bring about practical solutions to meet such challenges.
