Step 2Set up your Account

Select Ameritrade ( or Datek for former Datek customers ) from the dropdown box, add your account #, and select Regular (taxable) or Retirement (non-taxable) for the account type.

Step 3Baseline Starting Positions

 If you didn't sell everything in 2002, but rather carried positions into 2003, you'll need to first manually enter these specific 2002 buys into GainsKeeper before importing your 2003 trades. This is necessary because GainsKeeper needs the "starting 2002 positions" in order to process the 2003 sells. This process, known as 'Baselining' is required to ensure accurate calculations.

Step 4Download Your Transactions

Select Automatically Import from your Brokerage. Follow the instructions for Ameritrade ( or Datek ).

Step 5Begin Using GainsKeeper
