Considerations
When recording trades in GainsKeeper, you need to enter the symbol that the security was trading under when you executed the trade with your brokerage. Use the Markets>Corp Actions feature to perform a symbol look up in order to find the particular symbol used as of the trade date for your transaction.
For 'Option', 'Bond' and 'Other' symbols, use the Add Symbol link provided with the error messages to add the symbol to the GainsKeeper system. Then, you can re-enter the information and record the transaction.
For five letter stock symbols ending in 'E', enter the symbol without the 'E'. GainsKeeper does not update for these symbol changes since the 'E' suffix is often dropped by the SEC after a short period of time.
If you cannot find the symbol, contact GainsKeeper Support and provide the trade date, security name, CUSIP (9 digit identifier) and the symbol you are trying to record.
